College Hill Park Area
Developed in the early 1920's when Wichita was in a boom period, the College Hill Park area includes many subdivisions that are not really on "College Hill" but the whole area is commonly referred to this way.

College Hill derives its name from the seven colleges that were platted for this area. All available platted land had to be used for housing during the incredible growth years of the 20’s.

The DouglasStreetBridge was built to give people access to the East side of the River during a period when the cowboys had taken over the Delano district next to the River. Because of this, many families decided to move East to Belmont Place. The iron arches on the bridge actually had gates and a gatekeeper at one time.

Wichita was one of the first cities in the U.S. to have a mass transit system which included an electric rail car that actually turned around to go back downtown at Circle Drive in College Hill.

The Hillside Cottage in CollegeHillPark was the first Wichita Country Club and Golf Course.
